German Chocolate Donuts

Ingredients

  • 1 cup almond flour

  • 1/2 cup spelt flour

  • 1/3 cup cacao powder

  • 1/2 tsp baking powder

  • pinch of salt

  • 1/2 cup pure maple syrup

  • 3/4 cup water

For the topping ~

  • 1/2 cup date caramel (1/2 cup medjool dates blended with 1/4 cup water)

  • 2 tbsp unsweetened shredded coconut

  • 2 tbsp crushed pecans

Instructions

  1. Pre heat the oven to 350. In a large bowl, add in the almond flour, spelt flour, cacao powder, baking powder, and pinch of salt. Combine well.

  2. In a small bowl, add in the pure maple syrup and water. Whisk well until smooth.

  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the larger bowl with the dry ingredients. Mix until everything is well combined and you have a smooth batter.

  4. Divide evenly in the donut baking pan, it should make six donuts total.

  5. Bake the donuts at 350 for about 25 minutes. While those are baking, make caramel coconut pecan topping..

  6. In a small bowl, add in the date caramel, coconut, and crushed pecans. Mix until well combined.

  7. Once the donuts are done, let them cool and then spread a little of the topping onto each one. Enjoy!
